About

Maale Yair route

The steep road in the south of the Judean desert was formerly called Ma’ale Yaalim. Yair Peled, the commander of a paratrooper patrol broke into the scene for the first time, who was murdered in 1959 by Bedouins. It was decided to give the road its name.

It starts on the coast of the Dead Sea and goes up to the edge of the southern plateau of the Judean Desert. At its top there is a spectacular view of the Dead Sea, the Cliff of the Copies and the landscapes of the area.

This is about one of the longest and most beautiful challenge jeeps in the country. It lasts about 5.5 kilometers and the descent is not comfortable and lasts about an hour and a half, but the view from the top of the mountain, as mentioned, is worth the effort.
